The Theatre for Youth Division hosts two festivals annually at the Georgia Theatre Conference:

The Theatre for Youth Festival and the Middle School Festival.

MIDDLE SCHOOL FESTIVAL

This festival is an opportunity for public, private, and charter middle school theatre programs to participate in a one act play competition that is designed to promote theatre in the middle grades, and prepare students for high school one act competition. The festival offers students a unique performance opportunity, education in the competition theatre format, and a sense of community with their peers across the state. Educators can expect to receive encouraging and constructive feedback for their productions, opportunities to engage with their professional community, and a memorable experience for their theatre program.

COST

 $160 per team +

$15 per student or chaperone.

(Includes Director’s membership and

registration, plus festival fee).

ELIGIBILITY

The festival is open to any middle grades school in the state of Georgia.  Because some districts rank their middle grades differently than others, a middle school student is considered from 5th grade to 8th grade.  Academies, private schools, charter schools and public schools of middle grades/junior high school classification are welcome to register.

REGISTRATION

Registration will open in spring 2024. Click the registration link on the GTC home page to begin your registration process.  The $160 festival entry includes the director's membership and registration in addition to the festival fee. Each student and additional chaperone will need to be added to your festival entry for $15 each.
